The next stage of the application process involves waiting to hear back from this potential employer.  You should attempt to contact them, if possible, to see if they've had an opportunity to review your resume and cover letter.  Only call a few times to see if they have had an opportunity to review your information.  Many companies will not start to review their long list of applications until they have received them all,

If you're lucky, then you will receive information about being interviewed for the position your are applying for.  The interview is where you should really impress your potential employer.  During the interview, you should talk up your strong points and hide your faults, but no matter what, honestly is the best policy.  If you are lucky, you will be included in the second or third round of interviews.  Following this, you should be set to wait and see.  It is common practice to follow up with the person you interviewed with.  This has two distinct reasons, to put you back in their mind and to show them you're seriously interested in the position.
